Cards Games - Poker

Poker is a card game played among two or more players over several rounds. There are several variants of poker, but they all have these common aspect: The game begins with every player laying a bet on the poker table. During every subsequent round, players are dealt cards from a standard 52 card deck and the objective of every player is to come up with the best hand in the table. During the game players keep their cards hidden and they bet based on the strength of their cards. At the completion of completion of round, players reveal their hand, and the player with the best hands win the money and the bet amount of that round. The game gets over when a single player wins the entire amount in the table.

Despite the randomness of cards and betting playing a crucial role, there is a substantial amount of poker skill involved in a game. Be it Texas Hold’em or Omaha, a player needs to be good at calculating probability and/or have acquired some other mathematical skill which can be used for calculating the odds. The player who has a thorough knowledge in these areas will have a better success rate. If luck were the sole factor in determining the outcome of a poker game then the same set of players would not have won the game again and again. It is clear that players armed with better skills tend to win more.

Poker Cards - know about Poker

Poker game is played with a standard 52 card deck. These cards are divided into 4 suits namely, Spades, Hearts, Diamonds, and Clubs.

13 cards starting from Ace to King play in every suit: Ace card which can be used as a face card or a low value numerical card, Numerical cards from 2 to 10, Face cards – King, Queen, and Jack.

The face cards are abbreviated as J, Q, and K. Ace card is abbreviated as A.
